These are pictures taken by Mark Erney on a trip to Andros Island, Bahamas in 2010. This was during a project that Satellite Communications East and Mark Erney did for a military base there. I love the Bahamas! It's such a relaxing place to work, and the people are the nicest people in the world. We removed a large satellite earth station and replaced it with a new smaller earth station with more advanced electronics. The crew on this base was outstanding! I've never had better support anywhere else I've worked except NORAD. Andros island is very beautiful as you can see by these images. It's a world famous place to get "real" authentic hand carved wood sculptures and beautiful hand made baskets. Me and my right hand technician Klint just had to take a ride around the island to see what was there. He actually bought a couple of the wood sculptures in the pictures. I passed on the opportunity and regret it now. There is absolutely nothing on Andros Island except Coakley Town right next to the military base. The rest of the island has a very small population spread out here and there. The largest island in the Bahamas but the least populated. It's really a beautiful, quiet, and relaxing place. Me and Klint loved it, and vowed to go back and visit some day. We both took a lot of pictures while we were there. These are some of mine. I hope you enjoy them. Mark Erney |
